Have you seen the car in person, driven it? RE: the hood leaper, buy another hood and paint to match. If you haven't seen it, driven it, asking what to offer is a conversation over a beer. Worthless. A point of reference, I just bought a clean title 05 Convert with 90,000 miles here in northern California for $9000.

I'm in L.A. and the car is in Escondido so I haven't driven it. On paper the price seems a bit high due to the Arden upgrades. The salvaged car itself is probably worth no more than 5k. Plus I have to have the leaper removed, so it's probably not worth the trouble.
Where did you find your 05 vert? $9k is a great price for 05. Here in L.A. the low mileage ones are in the $16-20k range... almost the price of an aluminum XK150.
Roseville. 2 months earlier I bought an 05 XJ8 Super V/8 Red, rear DVD,Navi and chrome wheels, 112000 miles for $11500. That was totaled. Book value was $15,400. The loan was paid off and I realized $4000. Bought the XK8 in the same town across the street! On the 99 as you know, the upper chain guides break. I'd want a receipt showing they've been upgraded before I'd exchange ANY money. And the 5 speed wasn't as robust as the 6 speed.
I think the kit is not that bad, squares off the car a little and I would not get it due to that, I like the look they have with out it, but kits I have seen on many other cars, jag or not, this one is somewhat tasteful I think.
