Default 1999 XK8- Battery Draining- BPM or lamps suspect

The battery on my XK8 has been draining intermittently during the past few months, and for the last two weeks it has been draining regularly after 2 or 3 days of sitting.

After fully charging the battery, I used a multimeter and pulled each of the fuses to check for drain, which is fairly consistent at .2 amps. However, the drain ceases when the Body Processor Module (5V logic and lamps), fuse 5 on the Fascia Fusebox, Driver's side, is pulled out.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to proceed? I am guessing that it may be a bulb or connection, but I am not certain which bulbs are on this circuit. From what I have read on the forum, if a bulb isn't to blame, it's time to take it in for a pro to find a BPM or 5V logic circuit issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and have a great time driving this spring!

First check that the cover on the ignition switch closes when you remove the key - if it is stuck open the car will not go into sleep mode and that will discharge the battery in the manner you describe. If that's the problem it's easily fixed with silicone spray.

Batroute is dead right - my 2000 XK8 did the same thing. Spray the WD40 on the key and not in the ignition lock though! In and out a few times and the problem will stop.

Thanks very much for the rapid responses. I will go ahead and try that out when I get home from work.

No it doesn't - my XK battery went flat over 2 or 3 days even when deadlocked. Freed the flap off (you can see it's open) and the problem went away.
