Not to bump a thread for no reason, but some things I learned after the fact:
The shop I took it to did not inform me the latch was damaged, though I'm glad they didn't because I'm sure they would have charged me $1100 for one from Jaguar. Once I got down to Georgia I found a new Jaguar mechanic (Andy Charlish, EuroSport Fine Automobiles llc, highly recommended), and I saw the job done previously. The same poor hoses were used and the latch began leaking into the light assembly again, which the previous shop just cleaned out I guess. My hydraulic latch was bad, he sent it off to be rebuilt for $175, an improvement on the $1100 I was quoted at the dealer. I also got a new light assembly which wasn't damaged. I just hope if somebody stumbles across this and has a bad latch of their own they don't get suckered into paying $1100, it can be rebuilt.
