Markmbaha1,
I hope you aren't making fun of my MBA...with that Name....Anyway, Mark your situation is very simple....Just remove the Chrome Backing piece from the Fender (Wing) and replace it with the new Part that you want to take the Jaguar off of...That way you don't have to remove anything but the Chrome Base from the Fender!.....After all, it's just Glued/Taped on...Now you don't have to remove the Jaguar from the Chrome backing!!!!
Hope this answered your question...!!

I guess I'm not confident how to get it off without making a mess of the paint. If the old tape sticks how do I clean it off the body? It feels solid stuck on, what is the safest method of removal.
Thank you

Lol, no I have one too. Part of those letters are the first letters of an organization I loved working for.

Markmbaha1,
As I said: The Early XK8's were wired for "Turn Signal Blinkers"! Those wires are found inside the Fender Wells so that you can change over to Blinkers if you want......The Wire end doesn't look right on the Photo of the Wire, so you may have to find an XK8/R in a Wrecking Yard or go to a Jaguar Parts Company to get the proper Part....Also, you will have to Buy the Blinker from eBay or someone like that or just ignore the Wire and let it hang lose in the Fender Well....That way you can just reinstall the Leaper and forget about the Light.....It's up to you...........

Likeshuz............
The Leaper is attached to the Fender with (2) Way Tape...Just pry it lose with Fishing Line....There is an oval-shaped hole in the Fender under the Leaper....also in most cases there is wiring, which runs to the Blinkers.....If you hook that wire up to a Blinker-Light Like all XK8 & XKR's have from about 2000 on....You can also have Blinker signals.....You will have to Buy the Blinker Light from one of the Jaguar Accessary Sells Shops on Ebay or the Internet...You cannot make the "Leaper" light-up!
