Question 2000 xkr window problem, or user problem?

Hi,
Dave here, new to this forum, but I have a question: When I open my door, both doors unlock as they should, when I open the drivers side door, the window retracts as it should but it does not auto shut after closing the door. It always leaves a gap of 1/4" to 1/2":-----then at other times, depending upon if I wait till the steering wheel retracts and I let the car sit still for a few seconds, then open the door, the window retracts and recloses as it should. I am baffled. I have pushed both window switches and held them to reset the limit switches, but that does not return the windows to their normal operation. Is it me or some fluke in the system?....

Before I make any comments lets clarify you have done the whole reset.

Sit in car. Ignition on. Door closed. Push down button till window is fully open. Hold. Hear a fait click. Push up button till window is fully closed. Hold. Hear faint click. Done!
Is that what you have done?

Erratic window drop is a regular question. The most common causes are:

1. travel limts not setup correctly
2. failing or partially discharged battery

I'd eliminate these first before looking for more obscure possibilities.

Great minds think alike. If he had set the limits correctly the battery would have been the next suggestion.

Thanks to all who responded....I will try the reset again, and check voltage of the batt.
Also, out of curiosity, can one raise the aft windows with the top down? Not that you really need them up, but just wondering.

I think the answer is NO but I've never owned a convertible and that impression is only from reading Q and A's on the forum. If no one posts with the definitive answer, I recommend you ask the question in a new thread.
