Also yes the dipstick is extra long to fit multiple applications. as long as you fully seat it in the tube "push it in till it comes to a natural stop" you are all set to take your measurement.
What make is the exhaust system on your XKR? It has a great sound. Also, how do i check my transmission fluid?

SCR,

You may need to have a Jaguar dealership perform the Adaptive Drive Cycle TSB procedure. That fixed the intermittent rough-shift patterns in my wife's 2006 XK8 in July 2013. Search this forum using "adaptive drive cycle TSB" and remember that you have a ZF 6HP26 transmission....

Default 2001xkr gearbox problem

Hi I'm new to this ,but I'm hoping someone out there can answer my question.
Has anyone experienced gearbox slipping when parked on a very steep incline?
It happened to me today while pulling away up hill.
Surprisingly no warning lights came on and it cleared once I was on level terraine.
Has anyone experienced this ?
My initial suspicion is low oil in the gearbox ????
Any suggestions ??

Welcome to the forum. Low fluid would be my guess also. If you don't have a dipstick get one, ebay is a good choice, but we don't know where you are located.

There is an electrical connector that is the most common leak point, so check for loss of fluid there and replace the shell and seals as needed. Get the Mercedes parts from BMW Parts, Mercedes, Porsche, Saab, VW, Volvo, Audi and Mini Parts for a good price. Replace the fluid /filter while you are at it to extend the life of the transmission. Select an 2003 SLK 320, it is one of many Mercedes vehicles using this transmission.
