I got the fluid drained and everything cleaned up and reassembled, but, my question is. Where is this electrical connector that I bought, on the trany, and, how do I get to it?? I am going to continue hunting, but, figured I should ask the question first in case someone can help!!

look at my thread on this from a while ago. will answer alot of your questions.
Transmission flush...easy.... - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
Also yes the dipstick is extra long to fit multiple applications. as long as you fully seat it in the tube "push it in till it comes to a natural stop" you are all set to take your measurement.

I'm a new owner of a 2005 XK8 and I love it. However,,, when it shifts from 1st to 2nd it jerks sometimes. I notice it most when the engine/fluid cold. I tried to check the fluid but cannot find the dipstick. Actually I'm feely a bit like a dipstick with this question..... Can anyone give me some advice. Thks.

Hi I'm new to this ,but I'm hoping someone out there can answer my question.
Has anyone experienced gearbox slipping when parked on a very steep incline?
It happened to me today while pulling away up hill.
Surprisingly no warning lights came on and it cleared once I was on level terraine.
Has anyone experienced this ?
My initial suspicion is low oil in the gearbox ????
Any suggestions ??

Welcome to the forum. Low fluid would be my guess also. If you don't have a dipstick get one, ebay is a good choice, but we don't know where you are located.

There is an electrical connector that is the most common leak point, so check for loss of fluid there and replace the shell and seals as needed. Get the Mercedes parts from BMW Parts, Mercedes, Porsche, Saab, VW, Volvo, Audi and Mini Parts for a good price. Replace the fluid /filter while you are at it to extend the life of the transmission. Select an 2003 SLK 320, it is one of many Mercedes vehicles using this transmission.
