I have mine in a brown envelope in the glove compartment - haven't touched the envelope since I bought the car. I think the whole code thing is supposed to be a theft deterrent. Yea, I know I'm defeating the purpose by keeping the envelope that came with the car that has the code in the glove compartment.
You should look through your car's papers and glove compartment to make sure you don't have it some place.
I think you can call Jaguar to get the code. Might have to go to a dealer so they can verify it is your car. I think there are also outfits on the internet that somehow can look up your code for a fee - check those out before going to the dealer so in case the dealer wants to charge you then you'll now an alternative cost.

OK I opened the envelope. First off it is a white envelope (not brown) the same size as the manual and in my car it is located on a little shelf in the glove compartment where the manual is stored.
The code has no relationship with the serial number of the car that I can see. The card with the code also has the radio's serial number on it. The instruction sheet says that if the code is lost and needed that it can be obtained from a Jaguar dealer. But it also says that the Jaguar dealer may charge you for removing the radio to determine it's serial number - so apparently that is the key.
At the same time I see some web sites that claim to be able to sell you this information based on the car's serial number for a fee.
