I would like to know more about what state the car is in...
One,,, is the car completely new to you?
Have you been working on it a while?
Have you ever seen it run, normally?
Do you have a complete breather tube where a large 3 or 4 inch black hard plastic tube runs up from the front RH corner of the engine bay, up the RH side of the engine bay, then curves over to the top of the throttle body...? These cars will not run right without this tubing and the MAF sensor plugged in.
When you put the key to the on position, just before you crank it, can you hear the throttle body going thru a bunch of adjustments? If you look down the bore of the throttle body what position is the butterfly in? Is it all gummed and clogged up?
Is the throttle body plugged in at all it's plug points?
Check to see that there are NO missing vac lines or tubes (there are a couple that are hard to see) missing at the throttle body. Do you hear a loud HISS (air) when it's reving up to that 4000?
And, do you turn it off at 4000, or does it **** itself off/stall?

xk8 stalling issue
Thank you for your reply and suggestion
The car belonged to my cousin in Athens
Greece and i bought it from him 2 years Ago.
The car was in good working condition but
sinve the pandemic last year,it was just sitting there.
I live in New York and could not travel to Athens.
We passed the inspection and the car is in working
condition with this issue that just came up.
I am in the process of changing the shocks, and
doing repairs on the interior to bring it back
to a good order.
