2001 XKR Power Window Question
Hello to all. We have just acquired a 2001 XKR silverstone with 70K miles. On the passenger side window, when you open the door, it drops an inch for clearance, but it will not go back up when door is closed. The drivers side is OK. Any suggestions what could be the problem, such as a sticky door sensing switch, etc.? Another symptom is when the top is open, the passenger window drops about half way down while the drivers side again only drops by an inch.

Easiest thing to try (and a likely candidate) is to reset the windows.
With the top up, lower each window one at a time all the way down and hold switch until you hear a click. Then raise each window all the way until you hear another click. This resets the limits for the window travel and may resolve the problem.
If this doesn't work, you'll find several threads on window issues on the forum.

Although you may have a weak battery, the most likely cause is the window limit switches need to be reset.
With hood up and doors closed, lower the driver's door window and hold the switch for approximately 5 seconds until you her a soft click. Raise it and hold the switch again until you hear another click.
Repeat for the passenger window.

Thank you Mike and Graham. Car does has original battery and it was dead when we looked at car, but seems OK, better to replace it now. Car is at local jaguar mechanic for exhaust work. I will try the reset when we get car back latter this week. I am learning quite a bit reading this forum.
