2002 XK8 driver window
Hi All,
Well, I just corrected a mistake...My wife's car blew up last month...
And I had previously made a promise that she could select the next car...
She picked out a new Buick Cascada (I can hear the gasps)...anyway to sweeten the deal...I traded my beloved 2003 XK8 convertible...
Obviously, a huge boner.
I just purchased a 2002 silver XK8 Coupe...and love it...
However, I'm having problem with the driver's window not syncing up
when you open and close the door...(I fixed this on the 2003 easy, simply by holding the window button and listening for a muffed click)..This does n't fix it.
By lifting the door handle the window goes down in 2" gaps...
Is this easy to correct?...I have made a promise to myself...not to let go of this one....
Thanks in advance...
WEMY

If it's the micro switch it will not keep going down in increments. This still sounds like a reset issue.
Do a hard reset by disconnecting the battery positive cable and holding it on the negative cable, disconnected from battery of course, for a few seconds. Try resetting the window limits, with the door closed, window up until it clicks, window down until it clicks, repeat twice.

Yep; reset issue but . . . I can only speak for later cars, but surprised if different . . . IMHO, it doesn't need a battery reset; it's already had one. To explain . . . if battery goes flat or is removed for any reason, windows lose their memory and go down in 50mm (2") increments when you lock/unlock, this signals that windows reset (not battery reset) is required.
Recommended - get in, close door, use window buttons to fully wind down or up (click), then fully wind opposite (click). Once window is fully up, the instant you open door to exit, window will drop about 6mm (1/4"). Close door and window will zip up again. All normal. All in Owners Manual. Note also that you should check both windows, as well as any seat, steering, pedal, and mirror memories.
Not poo-pooing the 2 or 3 times process, but I don't find Jaguar saying that . . . nor is it needed on later X100s . . . just checked my MY04.
Cheers,
Ken
