Default 2002 xk8 rag top turns over won't start

Hi All,

Well replaced the starter Motor on a 2002 jaguar xk8 rag top. The motor now turns, unfortunately car won't Start. Last time I started the car

it ran fine. parked it momentarily. Tried to start it would not Start. In fact that's how I damaged the previous starter by turning the key excessively.

so yes new starter motor installed turns still no start.

what I have done since is check the Schrader valve. Fuel present at Schrader valve while pressing in. Turn key to on position. Fuel pressurized. Fuel shot out of the Schrader valve. My thoughts are no spark.Love for more insight in determining how to resolve this issue.
a short while ago replaced all coils. the car ran great before the no start issue. Any help pointing me in the right direction will be greatly appreciated! Best, endurance

You can check for a spark by removing a coil pack and spark plug and testing the plug out of the cylinder.

If you started it cold, and only let it run a few moments before turning it off. It's likely that it's flooded.

Try starting with the accelerator held down. I've had to crank for long intervals to clead a flooded engine but have never burned up a starter motor.

Are you sure all the wires got reconnected correctly? Do NOT ask me how I know of this possibility. Also, is the air cleaner/MAF pipe connected securely to the throttle body? Again, don't ask.

If so, you're going to need more diagnosis. Test fuel pressure with a gauge. Scan for codes. Assuming all is connected correctly, the symptoms sure sound like bad fuel pressure.

Yes, what does the car think is wrong?

DTCs may give you some clues.

Do a compression test. It may have dropped some valve seats.

Also check all cams are turning when cranking, chain may have broken.

Did you see this part?

Thank you all had to work. so I haven't been able to get back to the car. Rhichard will remove 1 coil pack and plug to see if spark prevails.
in regards to the fuel pressure seems plenty. Schrader valve engaged key turned to on position fuel shot out of Schrader valve like a bullet in a pistol. I had planned to review the won't start list just haven't had time. seems to me like a crank position sensor not sure though. etc initially 1230 and 1000. believe 1230 read cause of removal of fuel relay. when I scanned. rescanned no codes. will try the coil plug test to be sure. with so much pressure at the Schrader valve imo fuel must be in the intake. kind of weird. also new twist previous owner had a additional alarm installed. something I discovered when tracing a wire from positive terminal. in any regards thank you all so very much! will keep you posted

Yes, I did. My point was that I have thought I had things plugged tightly, and they worked for a bit and then worked their way loose. But I'm probably the only guy who's made that mistake, so nevermind.
