Default 2002 xkr with 20" detroit wheels & Brembos..Confused?

I have a 2001 xkr and a guy I ran into today has a 2002 xkr. His car has Detroit wheels and factory brembo brakes. He bought it used but he believes these were factory original. Was it an option without having a special edition like an x100 which I believe had montreal rims?

Its a black convertible with a tannish interior and the leather in the seats are perforated if that makes a difference. Thy have the headrests so Id say they aren't any kind of recaro seat No special stitching that I recall.

I'm just VERY confused!

ALSO- the centercaps are red as are the oval jaguar badges on side of car

Thanks!

I don't think those are original without being a 100 model as you said. My 2002 XKR has 20" Sepangs and Brembos, I did the conversion myself and it's not uncommon for folks to upgrade. I don't believe that the Brembo's became optional on "regular" XKR's until 2003.

I had posted something but didn’t seem to go through. The calipers look like the Silverstone versions and the Detroit wheels used had a goldfish tint to them it seemed. If that makes a difference. We did a quick service report on the car and it has no mention of this as being dealer installed but there was certainly quite a bit of service related work done on it. Cana. I’m number tell a story?

Probably not direct from factory original but possible changes as dealer installed options. If the customer was willing to pay they would do whatever you asked :-)

There was a color option on the Detroit wheels I think called Oyster, has a pink-ish gold sort of color.

When did the R option package become available? Perhaps the original owner ordered the car with some special upgrades?

R features were available in the 2000 MY as best l can tell.
My own car was part of small run special release in Aust. in July 2000 aimed at promoting the R packages.

Was in the past. I used Ford ETIS to run build sheets but it has not worked for some time now.
I also obtained build sheet details through jaguar Australia, you may be able to do the same thing for your location.

Yes, the 20” wheels and the Brembo brakes with drilled rotors (silver caliper with white Jaguar writing) were available from about 2000 to 2002 as part of the “R1 Performance package”. Same kit as used on the Silverstone and 100 editions. It was horrendously aexpensive though. Detroit, Oyster and Milan wheels were available in silver and oyster (champagne color). Here’s more info:

Default Two is definitely better than one

Congrats on a great buy. Another Big Cat for an appreciative owner.

When you get under the bonnet, let us know what you find.

It’s actually quite clean under there. Car rims real smooth. Sun faded valve covers. Car appears to have never been hit and there is no record of that happening. Underneath has absolutely no rust. Slight suspension noise up front I need to look into. Compared to my 2001xkr which is lowered with 19” wheels. This car drives so much better.

Oh and wife hasnt divorced me so all is wel!!!
