I am wanting to know what a good sale price would be for my jaquar xk8 convertible. 170000 miles run great, a few issues with dash lights and I need to fill the tank on the convertible top motor.

 

How long is a piece of string? Classics are subjective now 🤣 Very high mileage but a lovely example. If it is rust free and in good order which I suspect it would be, you would be looking at £9k in the UK market. If it had 90k on the Clock maybe nearer 11 to 12...

Just my UK estimate, I know nothing about the US market so I know sod all🤣

My 99R Coupe with 100k on the Clock original Nikasil 4.0 engine. I could get maybe £10k but I will NEVER sell . Don't sell yours mate you would always regret it. 😀👍

Be sure to tell any potential buyer, they need top front strut mounts ASAP, looking very crumbled and check the bottom bushing.

 

The right hand side looks OK from what I can see but yes I agree the left one looks in a bad way and the bottom bush will probably be perished. If the left hand strut steel on the engine chassis has no rot and still has its structural intrgrity then it should not be a too expensive fix. If not then it will need a cut and weld. Either way you are right and I would definitely get the bottom bushes replaced on both sides if it were me as a matter of course.. but I don't think it is a huge job.

So lovely, don't sell her, that engine is bullet proof and will last forever. Get the timing chains and tensioners checked as well as suspension bushes. Always use the best petrol and oil that you can afford. Get the strut points checked out as the guy pointed out, it won't be too expensive. Get the under chassis cleaned and surface corrosion sanded off and then rust treated and a layer of under seal.

Next service check the oil, if it is light then fine, if the new oil goes dark straight away then you should get an oil flush on the next service after that.

 

have the rear quarter windows been modified to operate independent of the top? I ask as in the one pic with the top up and front window closed, the driver rear qtr window is down and in the pic with top down, the rear qtr windows are up

What are the issues with dash lights

as others have mentioned - definite need to replace upper shock mounts - although passenger side is in better shape, you can see on the outer edges where it is compressing and won't be long before it crumbles.

Where are you located as area market would determine price.

 

Dash lights won't come on with headlights I can turn headlights on dash lights go off. I can turn dash lights on headlights go off. Can get both at the same time.
