Default 2004 XKR Key Fob inoperative buttons

Recently, and quite suddenly, one of my two remotes for my 2004 XKR coupe stopped working. I replaced the battery in the remote but it still would not work. Further troubleshooting revealed that two of the buttons would work, the Headlight button and the Boot release button, but the Door lock and Door unlock buttons would not work. After some forum research I found a link posted by Gus which describes how to clean the remote.

Here is Gus's link JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

The board inside my remote looks slightly different.

There was some type of substance inside the remote (lower left picture) that looked like water, but was sticky, and I removed it with alcohol. I found that the two inoperative buttons (the two buttons on the top of the board in the lower right picture) were contaminated with this substance and, after cleaning them with alcohol and reassembling the unit, all of the buttons work. Finally, a 30 minute repair on a Jaguar that actually only took 30 minutes
