In addition I've had Thundercat lighted bins put in the back seat and changed out the backup sensors for an Alpine in camera system (where it actually shows how close you are to things instead of just beeping). The camera alone lists for about $5K. Strangely the car doesn't feel any faster but suddenly I'm wondering where I could get car fired ground to ground rockets (kidding NSA, just kidding). Only downside is I'll likely have to go back to school to learn to use this beast. It was installed by a military tech for me.

Buddy when you get tired of throwing your money at the XK8 I got some property on Maui ya might be interested in.

Seriously I'm happy for ya, spend while your on this side of the dirt on anything that makes ya happy. To be honest other than the cat on the hood I think your doing OK.

I love anything that lights up in my car but I agree, not sure about all the tech. I'm happy if my audio works and my Bluetooth sincs up!! I know I couldn't deal with my mesh grill having the cutout and camera! Like the rear back up cam. Although I rarely use mine on my XF. I need that BEEP!!

Default New Top Cover

This is for Phil who wanted to see how my new top cover from Mina was working out. Currently my existing tie down brackets are about a quarter inch too far forward which is causing some minor fitment problems. They are making up and sending new brackets (soon I hope).

Ok. That's the same one I have but mine doesn't that've the two small humps in the middle. Yours looks like a much better fit. In your opinion do you think a body painted one would hold up? I'm thinking it would not stand up to the closing of the trunk.

I have the larger carbon fiber one as well and it is showing wear under the trunk. If I were to go paint I'd likely take some black electrical tape and put it over the part the trunk hits or try to just wrap that indent (since that would be a long thin strip it would be a little ugly with wrap but might actually hold up better than tape. I wonder if anyone makes a thin tape like clear?

You're pretty good with wrap and the clear isn't that expensive. In fact it might be wise to clear wrap the entire thing as it will likely chip when off the car and in the trunk if you don't.

Default Made the Car Guy Channel

My car made it on the Car Guy Channel. About 4 minutes 35 seconds in on episode 89. Also it was a good reminder I need to go on a diet.

Rob,
Your car looked great on (and at) the show, a real stunner. I picked up my 2010 XKR a few minutes ago. Back to the shop sometime this week to do some of the planned modifications. How's the new house coming along?

Rob,

Great clip. It really shows of your car and now you're a TV star!

Don't worry about the weight, the camera always adds 15 pounds.

Default Nothing New

Nothing new really just have some shots of the new stereo screen both running the FLIR infrared camera and with the new wallpaper.

Default New Steering Wheel

Minor Mod this week. Found a new wheel on eBay for $100 and figured what the heck. Think it came out rather nice. Now if I could figure a way to get a mini-gun in the back seat like the James Bond car I'd be really happy.

I actually found one: Vietnam War Guns - Machine guns Toward the bottom of the page. Mounting might be a bitch because on the movie car they put it where the convertible top is.

I guess no roof is a small price to pay for the pleasure of operating a minigun-equipped rocket ship?..

Looking forward to an entertaining video clip of your first drive downtown, and interesting chat with Dept of Homeland Security.. ;-)

If I rigged this I'd leave the gun in the trunk while driving to a car show event and mount it just for the event. We have presidential motorcades out here every once in awhile and driving with this thing visible during that time would likely make me and my car famous and not in a good way.

Though it might be fun to see the face of the Secret Service agent that saw my driving by (for about a second). I doubt I'll do this but I was watching Die Another Day XKR/AM chase again this week and the FLIR camera idea came from that film, still love the roll bars on that car and then figured, hell I think I can do the gun and off my imagination went.

I actually picked up a full sized real Thundercats sword which would fit better with the car theme anyway. Problem is I can't figure out where to mount it (it's huge). Maybe blade up in the back seat... Hmmm. It even lights up.
