2005 Carbon Fiber Edition

2005 Carbon Fiber Edition
Sold my 03 XK8 Project car. Started looking for next Project. Saw 05 XK8 for sale nearby. I went and had a look and ended up buying. This is not a Project Car. There are a few very minor things that need to be addressed but nothing major. I kind of wondered why the Interior looked different from my 03 and after a little Internet searching, I discovered I had purchased a Carbon Fiber Edition. Sliver with Black Interior. Neither the previous owner or I know what I was buying. I understand these are kind of rare. I'll post some Pictures later.

My understanding is that no carbon fiber editions were exported to the US, but dealers modified 05 and 06 cars to make "CF" models. I'm not sure I believe that, but there does appear to be many CF cars. The Victory Edition may be real, but I would be susceptible of CF claims. My 06 is a supposed CF model, including the Alcantara seat inserts which look tribble after a few years.

The Carbon Fibre edition was introduced exclusively for the UK in late 2004 based on the XKR and limited to 100 examples in either Coupe or Convertible form. Buyers could choose any colour and trim from the then current range although the dash was naturally always carbon fibre.
The edition was later extended to another 200 Carbon Fiber models for the US in 2005 where the specification featured a Carbon Fiber veneer across the Dash and centre Console, Alcantara inserts in the seats and door panels. They didn't have the Recaro Seats of the UK version, as they have the Alcantara inserts instead. They had 10 spoke 19" "Altas" style wheels, aluminum and rubber-studded foot pedals, an all-leather Steering Wheel and a Momo gear shift knob.
The Victory Edition for the US was originally intended to be limited to 1000 examples but I recall the actual number produced being around thirty more than this. Still makes it exclusive. The same specification was marketed to the rest of the World as the Final Series in unlimited numbers. I had one of the Final Series 4.2-S Coupes from 2011 to 2013.
