Keep in mind that the brake pedal switch assembly fails intermittently. Once they start going bad, sometimes they work and sometimes they do not. My wife's 2006 XK8's factory brake pedal switch assembly began failing in October 2012. We replaced it with a new one, which began failing in November 2016. Rather than purchase another new one for $150 or so, I had an EE friend remove the two troublesome microswitches on the failing assembly's circuit board and solder in two new microswitches for a fraction of that cost. We re-installed the repaired assembly on November 30th and it has worked perfectly ever since. When your current "fiddled" brake pedal switch assembly quits again (and it will), you may want to have it repaired rather than replaced. It will cost you less and probably be of far better workmanship....

headlights work fine. and the display has worked great ever since they fiddled with some wiring to check the brake switch.
