Default 2005 XKR Suspension Fault Light after replacing Brake Light Switch

i got the usual "check rear lights", "suspension fault" and "cruise control not available" on my dash, so thanks to this forum, i knew i needed a new brake switch. it was replaced today, original Jaguar factory part.

Now, i get a "suspension fault" about every other time the car is running. battery is 6 months old. anyone have a clue why this would still appear?

also, there was a "P1582" code... which i think is my fault. (twice i turned the key, but didnt hold it till the engine started) so it triggered a "fail to start" i suppose. it seems the dealer needs to clear this code. has anyone just left it alone? does it go away after time on its own? will it cause me any issues later on?

lastly, my 3rd brake light bar has 4 burned out bulbs. has anyone done a DIY new led lightbar? Dealer part is $300 + labor...it seems i just need a new light bar...housing looks fine.
(it worked intermittently before they replaced the brake switch)

The brake light switch failure usually only displays Check rear lights cruise control not available. You have a suspension issue as well.

I fiddled with the wiring under the driver's seat as one post suggested, and the suspension fault message is gone so far...

Hopefully not using a pair of wire cutters.

Although your suspension fault warning has gone, another code read could be useful to help identify what caused it. Not knowing what you've done that effectively fixed it leaves it still a mystery if it happens again.

Code P1582 is “Flight recorder” data is stored if any of the following occur:

1 Inertia switch activated
2 Limp Home mode
3 Engine starts and stumbles
4 Engine fails to start
5 Engine stalls

It won't just go away - code clear required but it's not doing any harm because you know what caused it.

so far, so good. no fault warning has returned on the display. I didn't cut anything, but my seat motor needs to be replaced, so perhaps when the guys were messing with it, wires got pinched.

looking into changing the orange side markers to clear with the chrome tipped amber bulbs now. anyone have a good source for both? I don't use eBay, but maybe will join if there is a good vendor.

thank you!

wire cutters come in handy! jk

I did (twice) start the car without turning the key all the way. so it stalled. so that makes sense. I'm always in fear of breaking the key for some reason... will the code just stay in memory until a dealer clears it? I wonder what they charge for that?

What wires under the seat did you fiddle with? Did you have to remove the seat?

I'm getting the intermittent Suspension Fault.

Thanks.

Thanks.

my mechanic fiddled with the wiring after my seat stopped working due to a broken adjuster knob... (im not fixing it for now since im the sole driver)

seat was not removed.

try adjusting your seat to a raised position under the thigh area. the wires are located just under there i believe. mechanic says the wires get pinched sometimes and cause gremlins...
