2006 XK8 multifunction display
Hello, I hope someone here can help,
I have a 2006 XK8 and if you leave it for any length of time occasionally the Multifunction display will not come on. [Sat Nav etc] It will often come on the second or third start up and then seems to work perfectly until the next time you leave the car for any time.
Today it went to a dealer who told us it was a problem with the calcium battery and that we need to keep the car on a trickle charger to eliminate the problem.
My questions are, does this sound reasonable? Why would it only effect the MFU? and how when the car is running would it not be using alternator current?
Sounds to me like a dealer giving us the brush off, What do you all think?
Thanks in advance

Well, I don't know if this is the same condition, but let me tell you what I can reproduce in my 03.
Lets say I have the car on, and the SAT/NAV screen is up, say the clock is on. I can turn off the car, screen goes off right? If I don't wait a long time and restart the car or just turn the ACC on within say 10 seconds, sometimes the screen remains blank. It's like it has to sit for awhile, perhaps something to do with the screen power itself...i don't know.
