New to the Forum! I have just purchased a pristine '06 XK8 in the stunning color of Black Copper Metallic, with a little under 34k clocked miles. The car has "Signature Edition" plates on the sides, with polished door treadplates featuring checkered flag emblems along with leather-edged floor mats. Missing is the Jaguar Growler badge with the checkered flag accents on the sides of the emblem--another tell-tell sign for the rare Victory Edition--which, if I'm correct, had only 1050 released in the 2006 calendar year--before Jaguar updated the body to the 150 style in '07. Nothing I have found, nor anyone I have spoken to, can provide further details. I was able to confirm with Jaguar that the vin reflects that it is indeed a limited edition model, and the only limited edition made in '06 was the Victory Edition, but because of the discrepancy with the hood ornament, and the fact that I could find nothing about a "Signature Edition" in '06, I don't know what to make of it. Can anyone shed light on the history of my cat? THANKS!

Did Jaguar make any of the special or limited edition cars with normal aspiration or normal (non CATS) suspensions ? If they did not then that would be a flag.
As promised, I wanted to update the group on what I know so far about the history of my Jag. Turns out she is one of the limited edition Victory models from '06, however there is now a question about whether Black Copper Metalic is the original paint job. I do show the Black Copper code on my door label, so I will wait to hear back from the good folks over at JDHT. THANKS TO FORUM MEMBERS JIMBOV8 FOR THE GREAT SUGGESTION AND ROTHWELL FOR YOUR KEEN DISCERNMENT. I have attached the letter fyi. Cheers!
Dear Sir,
Your email regarding your vehicle was forwarded to me for attention. Our researcher has looked into this for you with the following information.
Looking at the Vin number the car is a Victory Edition XK8 but car was not originally Black Copper but it may have been re-sprayed. If you looks at the sticker on the door shutface there should be the 3 letter paint code which we can use to verify the colour.
We presume that the original bonnet badge was removed and because the Victory Edition badge is no longer available a standard badge was replaced instead. We have no knowledge of a Jaguar Signature Edition apart from the UK only 2015 model year XK (X150) which did not have a special badge.
We have seen on Amazon a "Signature Edition" badge, it may be that this is the one used on your vehicle.
As I previously said the car is a Victory Edition so one of only 1100 produced for USA and Canada.
Kind regards,
Mary O'Rourke

Funny thing about "limited edition" special models of various vehicles. They demand a higher price if you happen to be looking for one but will rarely realize gains from the "rarity" when it comes time to sell.

It seems as though the factory made an error in the documentation. My Jag is the original color, Black Copper, per the door sticker, but is listed as Ebony in official records. Holy confusion Batman!
