2006 XK8 VVT Harness ?
2006 XK8 with the 4.2 liter engine....
After getting the car put back together today from our alternator / belt replacement job, another test drive this evening threw a P0010 OBDII code. JTIS points to a VVT bank 1 circuit malfunction. Taking a look at the passenger-side VVT solenoid valve, I immediately saw that the black plastic electrical connector clip on the VVT wiring harness (it plugs into the VVT solenoid valve) was cracked and broken and had completely fallen apart. The VVT solenoid valve itself looks fine, including its portion of the electrical connector clip that sits directly on top of it....
I must have broken this VVT harness clip while either removing or installing the air filter box. I probably used too much force and accidentally bumped the side of the air filter box into that VVT harness clip, breaking it in multiple places and causing it to fall apart. Unfortunately it is not salvageable....
I looked in my SNG Barratt catalogue booklet and found the part number for the VVT solenoid valve itself on page 96. But I do not see a listing for the VVT harness and clip. Can anyone point me to one, including the proper part number? As always, thanks for your assistance....

Many thanks fmertz. You are always a wealth of information when it comes to these obscure parts....
Sure looks a lot like our 4.2 VVT harness clip, but at this point I cannot tell if it is identical or not. This apparently comes from rockauto.com. How did you find it? What category is it in, and is it specific to our 4.2 engines or is it a generic harness?

BobRoy,
Thank you for your kind offer. Further research this morning appears to indicate that these VVT harness connectors do indeed fit the VVT solenoids on both the 4.0 and 4.2 engines....
I ordered a couple of the Airtex/Wells 1P1792 pigtail connectors from rockauto.com this morning. Less than $25 for the two of them. According to rockauto's fitment chart, they should work. After they arrive on Thursday or Friday I will report back here regarding just how well they fit into the male portion of the clip on top of the VVT solenoid, and whether the new VVT harness clip can indeed be removed from its new wires and fitted directly into the car's existing VVT wiring harness without any cutting or soldering as some members here have described doing....

Another suitable VVT wiring harness with electrical connector appears to be the Ford AU2Z-14S411-ADA. I called three local Ford parts departments yesterday. None of them had any in stock. But they could order one and have it for me within a couple of days. About $31 each. I will stick with the two Airtex/Wells 1P1792 pigtails that I ordered from rockauto.com for about $23 total for both of them (one for the broken passenger-side connector, and one for the drivers-side connector when it eventually breaks). They should arrive on Thursday....

Update:
My new Airtex/Wells 1P1792 VVT harness pigtails with electrical connectors from rockauto.com arrived in this afternoon's mail. They come with the pigtails disassembled from the connector which gives you a great opportunity to use a flashlight to study the orientation of how the pigtail leads fit into the connector and are then locked into place by pushing down on the white-colored plastic inner lining of the connector. I had the new connector installed on the original harness in less than 5 minutes, and it then clicked perfectly into the top of the VVT solenoid as designed. Then it was just a matter of starting the engine, taking a couple of minutes to watch for any warning lights on the dash (there were none), and doing an initial 12-mile test run. I had a smooth run with no problems or warning lights, so I hope the vehicle is finally ready to resume its job as my wife's daily driver now that the alternator has been refurbished, a new serpentine belt has been installed, and the broken passenger-side VVT connector has been replaced with a new one. I ordered two of the new Airtex/Wells VVT harness pigtails and connectors in case the drivers-side connector decides to break at some point....
Thanks again to all who offered assistance in sourcing these parts. According to rockauto.com's fitment guide, they fit both the 4.0 and 4.2 engines....
