2006 XKR or 2007 XK??

Interesting question. I bought a 2006 XK8 recently. I think quantitatively the newer model is a better car. I don't know if the early years of the newer model (XK) had teething problems. The earlier XK8s did. Most (not all) of the issues are gone by the time the last year of the XK8 (2006) rolled around.
That said, in my opinion the XK8s like mine are a more attractive design. One of the best of all time. Puts a smile on my face every time I see it.
The market value of a 2007 is probably 15k more than the 2006. Significant difference.
Which way are you leaning? Why?

I love the styling of the older XK's theres nothing like it. And I have found 06 XKR coupes for 26-32000 depending on mileage. I have also found 07 XK's starting at around 30,000. I am completly stuck. I really like the styling of the 07 especially the interior. I havent driven a new one yet which is somthing I have to do, but I also havent driven an older XKR. I just dont know what to do.

Not speaking from experience since I have not driven a "new" one, but they must be more capable in handling, braking, power etc. The interior is roomier but I don't think I'd want the hatchback. The newer ones are more complex and probably costlier to fix, so get one still in warranty if possible. If you like the style of both equally then go for the 07, but read the threads on the newer ones first. My preference is for the older style in the front, but the newer one from the side and rear. The wheelbase is 3 inches longer and thus its a bit better proportioned (less rear and front overhang) IMO.

That's a tough one but isn't life grand if these are the decisions that you need to worry about![Icon Wink](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
Anyway, if it were me I would spend a bit of time behind the wheel of each of these. Unless you have a definite feel that 2007 is better for you than the 2006 (or vice versa), then it would come down to things like color choice, miles on the odometer, overall condition, etc. As you are shopping around you may come across some deal that you know is right. That is what happened with me when I stumbled across a local private party who was selling his pristine low mileage 2005 XKR and priced it to move quickly.
Good luck whatever you decide.
