Default 2006 XKR trip mileage, A and B

Hi folks... you were so nice to help a newbie with his tire/wheel question.... now more questions:

My 2006 XKR has a funny issue. The dash control panel for the A/B trip mileage, etc.. seem stuck on the "A" setting. Nothing I push resets the trip mileage (in either "A" or "B") it or changes it to "B".

Thoughts or comments ????

Do any of the other buttons on the A/B trip pod work?

Press the "000" switch and hold for three seconds---see pg. 4-18 of your owners manual for details.

I've been out of town..... Just went to the shop and checked. The buttons on the A/B mileage do nothing; no reset, no "A or B"

Got me scratching my head a bit. Anyone have thoughts ??

Try this:

Follow this video: ‪sam1174's Channel‬‏ - YouTube. You only need to go as far as removing the wood panel.

Then make sure the switch cluster is plugged into its cable.

When I first got my car my trip switches did not work. Later, through other work I was doing, I found the instrument cluster (speedo, tach, etc.) connector was not fully seated. I unplugged it for a few minutes, plugged it back in and everything began working as intended.

The buttons on the trip computer are very similar to those on your key fob; rubber pads that mash over some traces on a circuit board. My car came with one of the buttons mashed in and stuck. When I finally pulled it apart it had just mashed a plastic piece out of the way so it wouldn't work right.

If re-seating the plug on the back of the button cluster doesn't work, push the cluster out of it's holder. It pops out toward the driver after you squeeze the two tabs on the side. (DON"T take out the holder, it stays attached to the wood panel) Then open the cluster and clean the circuit board with rubbing alcohol the same way you would clean the circuit board on the key fob. It might help.
