I had to replace my steering rack a while back as it was leaking from one of the bellows.


I purchased one from a breakers yard (£60), but wasn't happy with it as there was too much free play at the steering wheel.


So I bought a refurbished unit (£170) from a reliable parts supplier, the free play at the wheel was even worse. I took it back today and got a full refund.


So finally I purchased a brand new rack and fitted it today (£380), having now done this 4 times I have got it down to 2 1/2 hours. It works perfectly.

About a year and a half ago, I went through three rebuilt steering racks in 1 week. Each of them leaked worse than the original leaking one, and I was peaved. Four was a charm.
