3rd anniversary
Three years ago tonight in Iowa I was just getting on the highway to begin the 400 mile drive home in a ‘02 XKR purchased just hours previous. Even though the road was snow packed most of the way, it was a wonderful introduction to a great driving car.
since that day I’ve put a little over 57,000 miles on the car, just about 19,000 per year.
So far so good.

Congrats, I know that feeling but only for a bit shorter time. I had my car shipped form California sight unseen but many pics, it got here at night and I put it in the garage until I got the paperwork TCO'ed. That first drive was to the BMV for an out of state inspection and tags and drove for quite a while after. Been loving it ever since. Also Zircon Blue. TM

Am retired so all the miles can be considered “pleasure”. Plus several cross country jaunts for daughter’s wedding & family get together’s.
It adds up pretty fast.
Plus, our main entertainment is taking day trips, for which the XK’s are very well suited.

The wife and I did just do 1400 miles on a 4 day loop though Death Valley. We didn't take the XKR for this one though, opted for the new (to us) Aston.
Makes me look forward to being retired, I could get used to that being the way we pass the time.

It is my only transportation, so that helps pile on the mileage.
I’m hoping to get 500,000 miles on the car before it or I become irreparable. It’s got 163,000 miles on it so far, so (we) have a long way to go.
I was averaging 25,000 + miles yearly before the pandemic hit, but that reality has restricted my driving to day drives where I can get back home before needing sustenance or gasoline. I do this in order to limit contact with the mask-less hordes of zombies who are trying to kill me.
if I can get back to 25,000 miles a year it will take me another 13 years to get to the 500,000 mile goal. At that point the car will be 33 years old and I’ll be a young 82.
