Default 6HP26/28 Bridge Seal Will Not Fit

About a year ago I purchased a filter kit for the '06 XK8, (6HP26 trans)....and just now started this job. Got the mechatronics out, changed the tube seals with no problem...but the bridge seal I received from thectsc.com will not fit. The bridge seal has the correct markings on it....6HP26/28....6HP32/34...but is has the tab that the 6HP19/21 seals uses. What gives??

Anyone run into this?

Did a bit more research, found the ZFpart number on the seal I have.....turns out it is for the BMW ZF 6HP26/28....not the Jaguar XK8. Of course I no longer have the receipt, not even sure I purchased this from thectsc.com or not....so much for my records!

Ordered the correct one.

Can the tab be carefully cut out?

I started cutting the tab off, stopped, but then decided I had nothing to lose, got it trimmed off. I want to put a file on it to get it nice and smooth....but I think it will work just fine.

Back under the car tomorrow...

I doubt that Klaus (at thectsc.com) would make that mistake so I am betting that you sourced the part from somewhere else. Good luck on cutting the tab off and keep us posted on how it works for you....

thectsc.com replied to my email...and yep...for some unknown reason to me....I purchased the bridge seal elsewhere....???....have no "&#!!)#*^!!" idea why....but I did.

Anyways thectsc.com suggested that I trim the tab off....which I did, got it nice and smooth, almost like it was never there. (I did not take a picture) Bridge seal fit with no problem.

Lesson learned here is that the BMW 6HP26 bridge seal will fit into a Jaguar 6HP26 with a bit of trimming.
