96 XK8 - ABS light not switching off for circa 12 seconds
Here in the UK new MOT (Ministry of Transport) regs sttes that ABS light must switch off between 1-5 seconds. If not it's a fail.
Now having had the dreaded TC/SC control failure warning I set about cleaning/replacing my sensors and looms. Now the fault's been cleared my ABS warning stays on longer than the requirement.
Will an ABS ECU overhall/refurb cure this you think? There is a place that will do it for me for £99 (the full PCB not just the pump joints).
Also how quickly do others find their ABS light switches off after start-up?
Look forward to your replies.
Regards
Mark

Battery is brand new (2 months old) and have checked it
Mne stays on for 8-12 seconds after engine is started so I'm assuming ABS ECU needs a refurb.
Anyone in the UK have experience of this guy?:
ECU Repair,ABS Repair,Cluster Repair,Bmw,Jaguar,Volvo,Landrover,Vauxhall

There's a thread a mile long here
OBDII Code Scanners ** Member Approved **
Many of us are very happy with a cheap bluetooth adapter from EBay

and an app called 'Torque' running on an Android phone.
They also do a cheapo standalone OBD reader that I keep in the boot.

Ideally would like a reader that I can also use on my 07 Audi A6 if at all possible.
Only one I can find on UK Ebay is this one from China, but from memory my uk 96 isn't OBDII

Hi again.
I don't know how keen you are on doing things yourself, but here is my troubleshooting list:
- Battery fully charged.
- Clean wheelspeed sensors.
- Disconnect all applicable connectors, inspect pins, and spray sparsly with electrical cleaner.
- Check resistance of looms. About 1,1 kohms in your model.
- Open ABS module and resolder offending two loose wires.
The last point is somewhat complicated as the module is not supposed to be opened. A new module is fairly expensive, but the old one may be repaired by a specialist. Be aware that modules are different for different model years and options (ASC/Traction Control)
