its driving me nuts, that stuff breaks when car is stored winters. i have the leaking rear view mirror. after turning off the car, i heard a motor running, and found it came from the steering wheel. when the noise stopped, i no longer had a wheel that tilted or telescoped. it may be a 97, but only has 63000 miles. not to mention timing chain, water pump, etc. 70000 dollars when new. really? seriously considering selling, before the green shower hits me.

You have the first year of US production of a 15 year old car....I think your expectations are unrealistic.

15 years is end of life for many vehicles.

Time often takes a greater toll on a well maintained vehicle than does mileage.

Agreed. At 15 years of age, degradation of many rubber and plastic parts is to be expected....

I don't believe I would ever feel comfortable having to hibernate a vehicle for the winter again. I tried that in the late 1980s with my 1986 Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio Spider convertible and discovered that it actually held up better by me putting at least a couple hundred miles per month on it all year round....

Have to agree with all of the above.

Jon, you should probably have driven the Alfa as much as possible before it dissolved.
