After the check engine light came on I checked the code at the local parts store and it turns out be the variable valve timing solenoid. (Code P1393) VVTS were replaced and the light came on again. Went to the auto parts store to check the code and it still says it's the VVTS. Cleared the code and it stayed off for two days and now the check engine light is on again🤬
What am I missing🤔?

And for an early car, be on the lookout for these failed secondary tensioners (well known major flaw in the earlier 4.0 engines). Is this a red flag you have already skipped a tooth, and the ECU can't VVT out of the problem? I am not well versed in the intricacies of this problem, but I know enough that these tensioners have to be replaced with full metal 3rd generation versions from the 4.2l engine. Do check before even starting the engine again. Just my thoughts.
Best of luck, keep us posted.
