97 XK8 conv interior lights not working
Can't seem to get several lights to work...over head map lights, vanity mirror lights, trunk interior lights. Have checked all connections and tested all bulbs. Is there a fuse that might control these lights? I don't see any of them listed in the fuse discriptions.
Thanks, Mike in TN

Guys,
Thanks for the info, but I have checked all the fuses and they are good, and the only work done was right BEFORE i got the car and that was a rear view mirror replace. I did find out that the new mirror was not the correct one and thus the plug for that mirror was left NOT connected, Could that have any bearing on my current issue?

I guess the roof console was disturbed when the mirror was replaced, so I'd drop it again (gently) and check that the power feeds to the map lamps aren't shorting somewhere (red/white & purple/white wires). Try replacing the fuse with the console disconnected.
The second picture in this thread by DaveC shows how the console clips in place, and its associated connector:

Some have reported issues with the visor light wiring getting trapped when refitting the header rail - the lamps are on the same circuit. See vettegood's warning post:

Something else to check in the unlikely event you get tired of driving it...

Mike,
One thing concerns me. I'm sure I've read threads where the mirror light in the fold down visor blew that resulted in no start condition.
Hey I could be wrong but I really think those posts made me take a mental note of it. Sounds like yours starts fine, not trying to stir things up for you, just posting so you can research further or we can get validation from others.
Anyone else recall this?

Hi John,
I suspect we're thinking of the same thread started by waldo (I couldn't find it yesterday):
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...1/#post1529951
where one of the internal BPM relays went into meltdown.
The OP's car isn't displaying any other gremlins so it could be that the fuse in this case is doing what it's supposed to do - or it could be something else altogether...
