97 XK8 problem
Hello & help
My 1997 XK8 is acting up. It has died a couple of times the last few years, but if I let it set for a few days it seems fine. Sometimes it runs fine for a month, and other times only for a few hours. This time I pulled out of the garage for the season with a new battery and drove 100 miles with no problems. Then I put it in the shop, changed oil and filter and now it won't start. In the past years, I got the stability fault reading on the panel. I bought a reader and now I get P1242, P0102,P0112 and P1229. I pulled and cleaned the wheel sensors; the ABS control box; split it and didn't see any problem. Is there anything else to check before I put it back together? Is there anyway to check the pins other than visually? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks to all, Dan

The codes indicate a throttle body problem. I am not well informed on that subject, but the advise often given is to clean the contacts of the connectors to the throttle body first.
Another thought comes to mind. Did you start the car from cold, move it, then shut it off immediately? If so, the problem is probably bore wash. You can find lots of info by doing a search.
