97 XK8 Spark Plug Gap...

As I will be replacing the spark plugs while we are doing the tensioners I want to get them gapped correctly but I am finding conflicting info. Some posts state .038-043 and others state .052 or .051 (depending on the post). And the Bosch Iridiums say not to gap them as they are gapped at .040 already. I guess they figure its to easy to break the brittle electrode.
So whats the consensus?

I encourage you to look in the Jaguar specifications booklet from the download
links in the sticky. All will be revealed.
As for opinion, a smaller gap is easier to fire resulting in less work for the
very expensive coils.
Check the reach on those Bosch plugs, you may change your mind about
their suitability.

The Bosch Iridium plugs worked great on mine, and with the newer plugs, I belong to the school that you leave their gap alone. The set gap burns off any crud that may build up, and they last as long as the factory gapped plug. At 10.5 to 1 compression, there isn't going to be much build up anyway, unless your coils are weak.....Just my 2 cents.....Mike
