I have a PLX Kiwi Bluetooth (designed in California, Assembled in China !!) device which works 100% with my Android phone and "Torque". Also claims to work with "alOBD Scanner", "OBDroid" & "VoyagerDash" applications.
Was a bit more expensive than the basic ELM Bluetooth hardware, but I had problems with a couple of them, so went for a more reliable option.
Just replaced my filter on my 99 xk8 the fuel is non stop pouring out of the lines. I just suffered thru it and got it done! Big mess but I got it!, took about 5 min start to finish.
Here is a trick to make removing the filter easier.
Loosen but do not remove the 8 mm bolt holding the cage.
Use the large wrench to hold the filter from turning on the outside edge of the filter and loosed the 5/8 nut on the pipe.
Let gas drain for a minute.
Since there is little room on the inside edge of the filter to turn wrenches.
Put your 5/8 wrench on the inside pipe fitting and use the large wrench on the outside edge of the filter and turn the filter counter clockwise to unscrew from the inside line.
Move the lines out of the way and slide filter out.
Replace o rings
Install in the reverse.,
being careful not to cross thread the line nuts.
When I first got the car years ago, I did the fuel filter change to get it “on the road.” For my recent annual service, the British Parts Service Kit came with the fuel filter so I thought I would put it in ... as I have alot of spare time due to Covid19. But this job had problems.....
New fuel filter and O rings from British Parts. Old style bolts and threads on the X100 Gen 1...not fuel line quick release fittings.
Set up.... hate work on fuel lines .... especially as I’m a smoker. Had small bungs in case Fuel gushed.
Fuel filter in front of the rear left tyre, hidden by the exhaust heat shield. Note the support bracket’s 3 bolts. Had to loosen all these threads for the job. Don’t remember doing that before.
Grainy pic but shows the fuel line O rings that needed replacing. These O Rings came in the British Parts kit too. No gushing fuel for me. Phew!
A few tips. Loosen, not remove, all 3 mounting bracket bolts to ease fit up. Attach the new filter bolted connections one side at a time as you need to push it onto the thread to make sure O rings seal. Use both a 19 wrench (on the filter) and 17 on the fuel line bolt to tight. One side at a time otherwise one side loosens the other side.
Just spent 2 hours for what should be a relatively straight forward 30 min job.
