Default 99 XK8 poor performance

I just recently acquired this car and except for the $6,000 in repairs . . . I mean "restoration," in the 3 months I've had it, I love it.

However, it is not very responsive, accelerator-wise. Normal acceleration is fine. But when I punch it off the line or when passing, it first bogs down for several seconds before getting moving. This almost led to disaster the other day when crossing a busy intersection.

In the old days of carburetors, I would think the engine was flooding with the initial wide open throttle.

Any ideas what could be causing this problem.

Thanx,

What repairs were done?

Could be a lot of things, but start with the basics:

-Scan for OBDII fault codes.
-Make sure you have a clean air filter, fuel filter and good spark plugs.

I had a similar problem and found that it was my MAF sensor, I did all of the above in addition to cleaning the TB (inc butterfly valve) and snorkel and clearing out the EGR valve before changing the MAF and getting my performance back.

Natch may not be your problem...but good luck
