Hey I had a set of nexen 7000's all 255 35 20 on my aftermarket 9 inch wheels they lasted long and performed pretty good for the price. But I have recently got new staggared 20 inch wheels and went with the Nitto Extreme 555's 255 35 20 and 285 35 20 they are great well so far I was suspect about there handeling until I decided to push them a bit hard and yeah these suckers grip. I saw all of the mustang guys running them defenitly reccommend.

Appreciate the recommendation workoutman! Nexen is a brand I never really considered before.
Dale D, if your wheels are the 8" front/9" rear width staggered config, you're pretty close with the dimensions...Tire Rack and Discount Tire shows 245/40/18 and 255/40/18, but if you don't have the staggered fit, it looks like 245/40 or 55/18s...very confusing indeed, so when you go buy, check out your manual, or inside the center console (printed specs).

I posted the following in the Wheels and Tires category earlier today, but another reader turned me on to this thread so I'll repost here.

I'm looking for feedback from anyone that has experience comparing Hankook Ventus V12's with Falken 452's. The user review I see for both are consistently excellent, and the price between the two is similar. The treadwear for the V12's is 280, and 300 for the 452's, but my understanding is that those numbers are really only useful when comparing tires from the same manufacturer. If indeed I can get get a bit more life out of the Falken's then that could justify the extra $15 per tire I'm looking at. I know it's a bit of a longshot, but I'd love to hear from anyone who has had both on the same car in order to make a direct comparison, especially regarding wear.
I drive a 2006 XJ8 VDP with 255/40-19's in Arizona (hot!) about 1000 miles a month, with a pretty even mix of highway/street.

Oh yeah... I went a little oversized. I got 285/35/19's. The originals were 255/40's. I knew I wanted the Continentals, but I worked with the tire dealer dude on the size. He said the 285's will fit the rim and the wheel well, and the 35 aspect ratio keeps the overall diameter very close to the originals. That way I don't have any screwy speedometer readings. The 285's will give me a little over an inch of additional width.

I just got a new set of Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sports, replacing a very worn set of Pirelli's. So far they are very quiet, handle well, and smooth. It's a huge difference, but I'm not sure if it can be attributed to just having new shoes. I got a great deal though, $177 per tire ($774 out the door after the balancing, etc.) at America's Tire.

I have a while before I need to worry about tires for my 2005 XKR but it took no time for me to discover how pricey the Pirelli's are (about $400 each or more!). When I needed tires for my Corvette, the local tire shop talked me into getting Bridgestone Potenzas to replace the original Goodyear GSC's. I was extremely pleased with the Bridgestones as they seemed to handle great (although always got rear wheel spin with wet pavements) and they wore like iron. I will definitely consider Potenzas when it comes time for me to shop for tires for the XKR.

The team at Discount Tire was very helpful figuring out what tire to put on my car. Kyle the manager and Brain, who installed, did a great job. I ended up replacing the ContiSportContact's on my Jaguar XK8 with a matched set of Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport's. I wanted performance but at a reasonable cost (not cheap, but reasonable), I was also considering the Yokahoma S Drive....which came close but the Bridgestones seemed to be a better fit for the XK8. Putting the Bridgestone RE 760 Sports on this car is Best decision I could have made as these tires are GREAT! And the prices compared to OEM Pirelli or Continental, is significantly less for a tire that is performing pretty much the same/better in key areas (dry traction, wet traction, stability) but these RE760 Sport's are a BIG improvement over the Continentals I just replaced in areas of comfort and noise. I would say treadlife is trending to be a bit better on these over the Continental tires. This is a z rated tire (W rating Bridgestone's versus Y rating the Continental and Pirelli tires have), so performance is fantastic and the tire STICKS to the road. Soft ride with minimal to no noise, and handles curves very well at elevated speeds. I love the fact I got an awesome high performance tire for almost half the price of what the JAG dealer suggested......this is a great tire for this car!! Also, since the Bridgestone is assymetrical, I get the benefit of moving tires from side to side, slightly improving the overall treadlife/treadwear. These look great when on, and balance very well.
