ABS Light on now ?
2003 XK8. Have read the other ongoing thread regarding ABS/ Stability Control, but nothing is related but the light on. We replaced the rear shocks, required removal of the ABS sensors & unplugged, and 2 other tasks. After the ABS sensors were unplugged, we did the head rest repairs on both seats and then replaced the spark plugs. Head rests required the ignition key to be cycled several times, on-off. Once the Shocks were replaced and the ABS senors cleaned and replaced, we finished the jobs, but the car is still on jack stands and has not moved. We started the car and the ABS light came on as well as Ck. Engine. Pulled the codes for the CK Engine and then erased them. NOTE. No Ck Engine or ABS prior to these jobs. Did not jerk on wires or damage them , so how do we clear the ABS light? No problem with either until we cycled the key w/o the ABS sensors plugged in the harness. How do we clear the ABS Light Please?

Got it all reassembled, took it out for a short test drive and everything felt and sounded good except for the sight of the ABS light being on. By the end of the ten minute drive, it was off. Whew ...

The fault you had was that the rear wheels were turning but the front ones were NOT.
That is a fault according to the ABS module. The difference in wheel speed was MASSIVE and the module flagged that fault.
If you had read the ABS codes you probably would have seen both front wheel speed sensors faulted (no signal).
A test drive corrected the fault and the ABS module was 'happy'. (but the faults are probably still logged as codes in the module)
Many Jaguar modules clear a MIL automatically when the fault is rectified, although the code is still logged in the module if you read it. Some modules require clearing a code with the diagnostic tool (like CATS faults) or the indicator will not shut off.
Some cars like my wife's VW TDI Beetle need the airbag light cleared even if the fault is rectified. The light remains ON until I clear it with my VAGCOM.
