Default AC Display LCD dull

My AC LCD display is never clear... it's impossible to read when the car is cold but seems to improve after driving for a while. Maybe it's just with more direct lighting...

Does anyone know if this needs a bulb replaced or and entire new unit?
Thanks!

I would start with checking the bulbs.

How to do that is here in my working thread.

I had the same issue in my wife's 2006 XK8 a few years ago. A new bulb did the trick....

Default Bulbs ?

I have the same Dont think bulbs will help. They are only on when your lights are on.

i have the same with the odometer.
I believe you (and i) need a new lcd display

The odometer is on all the time with the ignition..it only dims when you have the lights on and turn the knob.. These LCDs are lit from behind.
Sod the display fix the transmission!!!

Dickie,
It may be the light, but it looks to me like the LCD panel has failed. Try the bulb route, but you may need to source a replacement.
