Does anyone know the correct part number for a 2002 XKR low side A/C port?? It's not MHD7372BA...I have one and the part is really different from mine.
...long story longer:
I picked up a 2002 XKR last month (love driving this!)...only problem was low A/C (Code 23).
While getting ready to recharge it with 134a I notice a bit of leakage at the low side port. So I tried to change to port...and things got surreal.
When I attempted to extract the valve using my valve tool it was a weird size! No problem - I cut a slot and hole in a bolt and pulled it out.
I ordered up a new valve kit for the schrader valve from the local parts depot. The valve itself looks nothing like the kit so I called Jag and ordered up the factory spec part: MHD7372BA. What arrived is a cool little screw on valve...not a weirdly sized schrader valve.
Have I gone mad here or does my XKR have a wierd port??
...any help would be appreciated!

According to JEPC, MHD7372BA is the correct Part Number for the low side charge valve (item 19) but there appears to be no way what they have supplied can be fitted to the hose:

Looking at the diagram, I'm very surprised Jaguar don't just list the complete hose assembly shown as item 15.
Hmmm...good idea Graham. I looked up the hose itself. It's part #MJA7310AH. I found a few pics of them on ebay and they appear to show the correct screw-on valve. I may be stuck replacing the entire hose.
...2 options:
1. The hose I have is original and only replacements came with the screw-valve
2. The hose I have is a replacement and they don't come with a valve
...can anyone take a look at their A/C low side line and confirm if they have the screw-type valve?

You are rather more adept than I with your picture taking, but attached is a shot of the offending part in mine. Sorry it's rather blurry, but you can see that the valve is detachable and looks like the one you have been supplied with. Bear in mind it's also a '98 and an 8 not an R.
However...
I found the attached alternative list in JEPC that shows a one-piece pipe like yours. Perhaps this is the part you need - C2N1700- although if the JEPC price is anywhere near I'd be looking for a Schrader valve
All the other lists (including Canada/USA) show the valve as detachable. The VIN range shown is a follow-on, so presumably later cars, and a quick Google bears this out as I can see that part # listed for the 4.2. Maybe yours has been replaced at some point?
Ahhhh thanks. Now I am convinced that replacement hoses are in fact one piece and the factory original stuff is the 2 piece.
That means my hose is a replacement and there is no point in changing it.
The hose is about $150. Rather than spend 2 hours replacing it (since I show no dye leak at it's connections) I'll just buy the hose, extract my $150 schrader valve, and swap it in. Expensive schrader valve unless I hear a better idea...
Living in Canada means I'm in no rush to solve it, but I'll let you know how it turns out...
Interesting idea...they don't have the direct fit on the website but I did manage to find a Calgary distributor. If they have a few around I might get lucky...

LOL - we're a few weeks from needing A/C here in Canuckistan. We've had the whole country air conditioned you see - though we're not supposed to mention it to outsiders...
Take the valve out and to an AUTO PARTS STORE to match it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The JEPC has been WRONG for that part for over a decade!!!!!!
I have a bunch of service valves in my parts bins and I just go my local auto parts and have my buddy look in the boxes until we find the matching part then I buy a few. I keep several different sizes and styles that fit Jaguars from the 1970s to the mid 2000s.
It might be for a 2005 GM car or a Ford truck. It doesn't matter as long as the valve screws in and works.
Last weekend I lurked in parts stores, a schrader valve company, and online looking for The Valve of Mystery. No luck. Plus Calgary is having a record heat wave....figures...
Since we now know my hose is a replacement, I thought about it and figured - hey the valve can't be that old....lets add a can of R134a and see if it leaks. It did.
I scanned with blacklight and there was some dye on the schrader. I shut off the engine...but forgot to close the can valve.... and I hear a faint hissing.
Facepalm moment.
"...of COURSE there is dye on the schrader - it's where you put it in."
A quick scan with the blacklight and no dye anywhere else....weird. I cracked the can valve, engine off, and worked my way around the hoses with a stethescope.
The lower condenser hose was making the noise...and feeling along it I found a hole. Some jerk left it in contact with the oil cooler hose and it rubbed through. It was tight against the cooler line so the leak was faint and it masked the dye. The oil line was ok except some light scuffing...tougher metal.
This little beauty, MJD7341AA sells from Jaguar for $462 USD (In Canadian that's 1.8 kidneys)...and takes 2 weeks to arrive. I found one at an online wrecker for $30....including a sensor and shipping. 2 days later I had it in my hands...
Scrounged up 2 3/8 o-rings and this baby took less about an hour to install (and that included the time it took to eat the pizza)!
It worked (but we'll wait to see if it all leaks out in short order). The hunt for The Valve of Mystery continues...but hopefully in an air conditioned leather and wood trimmed coupe.
That rubbed-off section of A/C aluminum line looks exactly like my 2005 S-Type's lower A/C line did back in April. Those lines are stupidly routed directly below the oil filter on the S-Type 3.0 cars (meaning you must move them around a little to get the old oil filter off and the new oil filter on at every oil change). As the years passed, my lower A/C line wound up sitting directly on top of the steering rack and the constant road vibration eventually wore a pinhole leak in it. Took us weeks to find the problem - who knew? The new A/C line was about $180 from Jaguar but my A/C system has been blowing arctic air ever since so I've finally gotten over this obvious design flaw. When we installed the new A/C line we wrapped that section of it with a 4-inch piece of rubber hose so if the line drops down and sits on the steering rack again, the rubber hose will protect it. I advise that you do the same....

lol yup...it's at 470.46 from Terrys: Mjd7341aa There are other, cheaper options if you dig. Greed-bay is about $50-$300.
My local welding guru was willing to build me one for $200...that was plan C.
...You may want to hold off on repairs however: I've noticed that my A/C fix coincided with the abrupt end of the local heat wave. I am now reasonably convinced weather patterns are completely controlled by XK Coupe air conditioning repairs.
