So where's the post that says you must only use the Jaguar branded filter because it is a special variant especially designed by Jaguar engineers who know all?

If it is true for ATF, gear oil and coolant, it must be true for all Jaguar branded consumables.

They certainly seem to be. After I posted this thread yesterday, I went home and installed the new NAPA Gold filter, which is made by Wix. It certainly seemed to be the same as the Jag filter I replaced. But it was $ 30 lighter.

For those interested, the NAPA part number is FIL 2461.

Well, Back to the K & N I've got a 1997 F-350 diesel dually work truck that has been running a K & N for 12 years and 278,000 miles I figure if we can get 300,000 with out major problems they must be doing something right. Also the filter has never collapsed or given us any kind of trouble. We just do routine maintenance on the truck once a year. Hard to believe it has done any damage.
