Aircon leak.

Aircon leak.
I had the Air con recharged yesterday and this morning it is back to how it was. The fitter said his machine would pick up a major leak and not charge the system, he said all was good, but if there was a slow leak it would show in a few days. The compressor is working fine as it was ice cold when i picked the car up. Is there a common place where they fail?. Many thanks. Ant.

My compressor seal behind the pulley had failed after 25 years. I did manage to rebuild it with new seals which makes things a lot cheaper, but the general consensus is to replace the compressor. Also check all the crimps on the hoses where they join the rubber hoses. One of mine was leaking. The ultraviolet torch is a great tool as mentioned above but only if your system has been dyed.
