AJ-27 Valve Clearance spec
Hi All
What are the Jaguar Valve Clearance Specs for the AJ-27 Engine?
According to this Jaguar Workshop Manuals > XKR Coupe (X100) V8-4.0L SC (AJ27) (2000) > Maintenance > Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks > Valve Clearance > System Information > Specifications
it is:
Inlet 0.18-0.22
Exhaust 0.23-0.27
According to page 815 of the 'Second Edition 1999' Workshop manual from the Forum download section it is:
inlet 0.2
exhaust 0.25-0.3
Which one is correct? Inlet is consistent, exhaust is quite a difference. I'd assume a little more clearance on exhaust will not hurt.
Thanks,
Chris

Intake .18mm- .22mm
Exhaust. .23mm- .27mm
Both are the same. Your second one is midrange of the first. But .3mm is too much.
Download " Engine repair course code 168"

You can find it on our site or Gus's site Jagrepair.com

Thanks for the helpful hint to " Engine repair course code 168". There it says indeed
0.2mm and 0.25mm with a tolerance of +/-0.02mm.
That matches with most sources in the net and forum.
I just got puzzled by the 0.25-0.3mm statement in the 1999 workshop manual. Its an official Jaguar manual after all. Probably a typo then, it has been corrected later, I did not find the 0.25-0.3 statement anywhere else.
Means my valve train is quite off the limits, exhaust mostly too much, while inlet is too short. I have as little as 0.135 for inlet and as much as 0.32 for exhaust. Car has 200000km.
Nice weekend job, respectively two at least
Thanks,
Chris
