Default Almost-cold air box...

I've got a big driving trip coming up on Thursday. My car had the 'hot air' intake system and I haven't had the time to do things right. I used 'roofing tin' (aluminum sheet) and high temp HVAC tape to seal most of the hot air away from the intake. This is not permanent and nothing is affixed to the car itself. Foam pipe insulators allow it to conform to the underside of the hood. The heat shield was so poorly designed that it actually exposed the K&N filter to air under the hood vent. Aaaargh!

Before (allowed hot engine bay air to get in):

Not permanent, aluminum tape and foam pipe insulation helped make the seal better:

The slot allows the hood support strut to close properly:

I took it out for about 10 minutes of driving afterward. The 'butt dyno' tells me that it has made a difference in our 103 degree heat. =)

I'll install a nice cold air system this Fall. This current set up will do for my summer trip around the country!
