Alternative to Rubbish Jaguar Sat Nav
Had this installed for a few months now and it works rather well. It is a parrot asteroid tablet touch screen with Tom Tom Europe installed. This Allows Phone calls, Bluetooth music and tethering to the phone to use internet apps like spotify.
It uses the existing radio and is spliced into the cd changer sound input.
The cd changer is still useable by selecting aux in on the screen.
When I get round to it I am going to put a relay in to interrupt the radios FM function using the Nav mute and mono input as at the moment cd has to be selected on the head unit which isn't really a problem.

The unit itself comes with a separate control box which can be plugged into the existing radio wiring harness if you buy the adapter, I just joined the constant power wires to the radio ones and found which one was the switched radio feed, the unit then shuts down with the radio, it also has auto dim which is set by the gps like a normal sat nav does.

The parrot wiring uses standard iso connectors as the separate box has a built in amp, In normal use it would disconnect the speakers from the radio and use the built in amp to play the music and do phone calls or nav. So if you was to install it that way you would need two adaptor cables, one to adapt the radio plug to iso then one for iso back to the jaguar type to plug back into the radio if that makes sense? Any decent car radio shop should be able to supply them. But if you have premium audio then that would not work as there is a separate amp in the boot which the speakers are wired to. Personally I didn't want to pay out for the extra cables and just used snap lock connectors for the power connections then two stereo to stereo jack leads with one end chopped of each and wired to interrupt the cd changer sound back to radio(aI - net cable) . This has been well documented on this forum, from what I could research if you do this with a premium sound radio and cut into the same ai-net cable then the radio would be interrupted as the cd changer goes straight to the amp. Extra apps can be loaded over wi-fi or downloaded on a computer and then side loaded to the tablet with a sd card or with a usb stick, this is how I did the tom tom app as it is 3.3gig and I have a very poor Internet speed of one meg. Everything that I have changed is completely reversible in case I sell the car and a potential new owner would want it back to standard.

Fitting a Parrot Asteroid Tablet
Hi
I've just been reading this thread and I've just bought an Asteroid Tablet for my 2000 model XKR with Premium Audio.
Got the unit from Amazon so I can return easily if not suitable.
I'm looking at fitting in in place of the sat nav exactly the same as you've done and would like to know how you fitted it behind the panel. Did you glue it and did you use the supplied bracket that has the suction cup or use something else.
Also I'm looking at connecting it to the 10 pin phone connector under the armrest as I have the premium sound with the old Motorola Startac phone kit and was wondering if you have any info on the pin outs of the Parrot..
After reading your thread I didn't realise that the Nav won't work with the radio and was wondering it you sorted this.
I know this is an old thread and hoping you'll be able to reply.
Kind Regards
