Maybe it has already been discussed but have you noticed XK8/XKR/newXK in movies or tv? Ever since starting to look at used XK8/XKR and then finally buying one, I have gotten more aware of how and when these cars end up showing up in scenes. Without a doubt it seems the writer/director wants to send the immediate message that the person driving into the scene is highly successful (wife of Travolta's character in The Punisher), but many times the person is also a sleazeball (Timothy Dalton character in Hot Fuzz).
Just my idle thoughts.

Check this out:

One I remember in particular is Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Jones driving an XKR in Entrapment. The car gets a bit beat up though.

So far all of the movies listed support my point--the character driving the car is clearly successful but is also an a**hole. It's gotten to the point that if I am watching a movie or tv show and there is a long shot of an XK8/XKR/XK coming down the street, even before meeting the character I know right away that here comes a very successful a**hole.

My daughter was watching Beauty Shop with Queen Latifah and the bad guy - Kevin Bacon - was driving a nice silver XK8. Can't remember a good guy (apart from Sean Connery) driving a Jag.
On a historical note, almost all British movies of the 50's and early 60's show the bank robbers driving Jags - the reason was that in real life the bad guys drove Jags because the HANDLED BETTER than the cop cars....thats why they were called "getaway" cars.
I seem to remember that one of the getaway cars from the Great Train Robbery in the 60's was a Jag.

Boys, boys, boys.........!
I think you're missing the psychology behind these cars (and the actors in the movies that have been cast with these cars). If there is one thing these cars scream, it's confidence. Doesn't matter if you're a good guy or bad guy (or girl, for that matter), you just have to be confident. Cars like this have no appeal for the shy, retiring types. These are for the bold, those who know where they've been, where they are and where they're going in life. They say knowledge is power, I say, so is confidence and a confident person NEEDS a powerful and stylish car.
The car you drive is a personal statement about you. And those that drive an XKR, XK8 or XK...well....![Icon Sultan](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_sultan.gif)
Here's my analogy:
Power is to Confidence as Jaguar is to Style.
Me? I'd rather walk than drive something like an economy car. (yes, I know I can be obnoxious!
