Antenna replacement
#1
#2
I replaced the power antenna on an XJ6 I once owned with a 6" aftermarket unit. It was black and "rubberized", but worked just as well as the original. Very easy to get out the old rod and put in the new. A single nut held the new one in place underneath. I think I picked it up at one of the usual parts houses (Autozone, NAPA, whatever). Remember to unplug the antenna motor if you go this route.
Despite it working well, and being MUCH cheaper than the Jag unit, I never really liked it. Looked wrong for the car somehow. Bad karma too. I totaled the car before I had a chance to replace it.
You might look at Rev. Sam's videos on YouTube. I think he has one showing how to mount a T-type wire antenna behind the rear seat and eliminate an outside unit completely.
