We took our granddaughter to the Tucson Zoo last week and saw this spotted black Jaguar. Way cool ...

I really wanted a Blue '05, and would have gotten "BLUES CAT" being in Chicagoland, known for 12-bar blues music (but I do have an interest in classic jazz).
The term "CAT" is American slang coined by musicians and is a nice pun on Jaguar ! The Leaper license plate frame just beneath is a hint to those that my not "get it".

Here's mine.. not super creative but hey, XK 8 is XK 8. Surprised it hadn't been taken yet as I only got it last summer. I chose the Rt 66 plates because of the black lettering/color scheme.. liked it better than the standard fire engine red letters with blue/white background on my car.
Sorry I couldn't show more of her.. she's all wrapped up for winter still. Attached a pic from the past summer so you could at least get a better look at the front.
Because of some idiotic law, we're supposed to have front plates as well here.
I'm protesting until I get a ticket...

I had thought of this one, but not sure it would pass. It would be one readable from the rear view mirror, but I do not have a front license plate either, and when I do get around to it, I am going to install the flip down retractable hidden license plate bracket. I will always have the front retracted away under the nose, but if I start to get pulled over, I will flip the switch and deploy the license plate. Anyways here is the plate.

I was disappointed to find that LEAPER was already taken in NJ, but I thought to myself "well this is your 2nd Jag.."
LEAPER2 was available so I grabbed it.
It seemed really clever when I ordered it.
Unfortunately I've met about 4 people who understand it, one of whom was a 12 year old boy!
I actually had someone at work meekly ask if I ever had Leprosy or something (you can't make this stuff up).

I've thought about a vanity plate for my black XK8 coupe but no great inspiration has yet lept out at me. If I do come up with something, I will at the same time change to the optional black plates as the white reflectirized California plate looks pretty bad on the back of my black cat.
California requires front plates. So far, I have not run one but must be careful not to park anywhere with meter maids on duty. I might try to come up with some marginally legal way to tuck it down in the spoiler mouth as others here have done. .
