decided to take Princess
Well I decided I'll just take my XK8, I don't visit my parents often and of course my other relatives in that town would love to see my car! I insisted my car is parked in the garage, my mothers corolla can sit outside for a few day!
It will cost less to take the XK8, I was just thinking of avoiding wear/tear etc. The cheapest rentals at brand name rental companies are ~120 and the mpg difference isn't enough to make it cheaper. I'm going with $4.25 gal. price. I always get premium grade.

It might be a few $$ pain but you and your family will remember the day you arrived in your Jaguar for a long time.
Don't forget to factor in the additional mileage for giving them all rides!
Have a great trip.

From London to Geneva 600 miles, 90MPH average, 24MPG, top up.
At no time was 160MPH exceeded.
That was what Brock Yates said about the first Cannonball Run.
A buddy of mine now decades ago explained it was always better to rent a car than take your own on long trips. I thought he was nuts until years later I took my own Mercedes on a long 4,000 mile trip and then checked the depreciation that is the hidden killer.
But if you are keeping your car forever it doesn't matter.
I will add that the biggest benefit of a rental is that when it breaks they bring you another one.
Happened to some buddies just last year on a trip from Paris to Rome and back....they put gas in a diesel......jet lag, they had gone straight from a flight from Australia to the rental agency and started driving the six hours to Geneva...doubt they would have done that with their Ferrari..... it not surprisingly died on them just ten miles from our house....they had wanted to take my car. Thank you no I had said, I prefer to pay my share of the rental.
It would have taken days to sort that out in my car not to mention the cost. They got another car and we were on our way the next morning, only slowed them down by about two hours. They did a bill for 900 euros later.
That said what is the point of living like a movie star if you are going to spend it in the garage.
Enjoy your trip and wowing the friends and family....isn't that half the reason you bought it?
cheers,
jj
