Anybody ever repair their oil cooler?..or just replace?
I have a 2002 xkr w/ 60,000 miles. I noticed quarter sized oil drips on the driveway. I think I came out of our garage at work and bonked the oil cooler. It sits down extremely low and looks like it's going to always take the brunt of a curb or dip. Anyway, it's dripping very very slowly at the bottom so it's not one of the connectors or hoses at the top because the top 95% looks relatively clean but the bottom 5% has a wet spot moving horizontal and then a slow slow drip at one end. My question is: is this an aluminum part that can be welded, jb welded, or otherwise fixed or should I just bite the bullet and get a new one. Ebay has original ones for as low as $260 or other parts places have generic for half. Advice?
BTW, I've only had the car for a few weeks and although I've been careful, looks like learning lesson #1. lol. Can't wait to start some of the fun upgrades I see on the Forum but looks like I might have to make a small detour first.

I had a leaking oil cooler on my 2004xkr which was curbed by PO. It was sweating oil from a crack the neck of the area where a hose bolted in. Also wind from driving highway speeds blew the sludge and it was plugging up the fins of the rad behind. I removed it(oil cooler rad) from the car and sent it out to a rad repair shop. They repaired it, cleaned, and tested to make sure it did not leak under pressure. Re- installed myself...had to get some Jaguar Special new rubber stand-offs at the dealer (not very cheap -15.00cdn ea.). The rad repair was 80.00 cdn ...cheaper than a new one. I,ve been driving it for about 2000 miles now with no leaks. I tried to clean the bottom part of the rad behind but not much space in there. One nicer day I may have to remove the fan assembly to get something in there to do a better job.
I did this repair last cold November in my garage with the front of the Jag jacked up and put on Jack stands. Not a fun job getting wrenches on those hose bolts and rubber stand-off nuts for the mounting bracket. Lots of twisting your torso to get threads to start. Easier on a hoist. Draining the oil pan not needed but some oil will come from the lines when disconnected...but there is enough oil still in the cooler rad to make a nice mess if you dont keep it upright when disconnected. Ask me how I know.I did not replace the "O" rings on the hose ends. They seemed fine.
