Anyone ever experience a rear view mirror exploding internally?

Hello bladerunner.
The mount is not the same. steps I took for this mod:
1, Removed the original mount from the glass with the mirror.
2, Removed the damaged mirror and cut the ball of the ball and socket joint off. This leaves the original glass mount with a 12mm long stem.
3, Removed the unwanted rain sensor and plastic trim of the mondeo mirror.
4, Removed the ball and stem assembly from the mondeo mirror and cut the ball and as much straight stem as possible from the mondeo glass mount.
5, drilled and tapped M4 the underside of the mondeo stem section.
6, Using a vice, pressed the jag glass mount stem inside the mondeo stem and ball joint (this is an interfereance fit). Slightly tightened the M4 grub screw to ensure the two stems stay together.
7, run the cables back through the new assembly and fitted to the jag windscreen.
8, Using a DVM, found and connected the jags 0v, 12v ignition feed & reverse + feed and connected these to the mondeo mirror. These 3 cables were actually the same colour on both cars, bonus!
9, tested and works a treat, been in now for approx 5 weeks with no issues.
.................
Reasons for this:
1, My brother in law who bought the car new has paid for 3 mirrors from jag that have all failed.
2, I own a titanium mondeo so it was easy to measure up.
3, In the UK, Mondeo mk4's will be in abundant supply for the next 15-20 years if this mirror doesn't stay reliable.
4, The best of all, it was cheap!
I hope this all helps with anyone wanting something reliable and on a budget.
