Default Back again, with an XKR this time.

I'm not sure if any of you remember me from last year, but I had a 1998 Convertible I was getting back into shape. I sold it in the fall, but just last week I picked up a 2002 XKR coupe. Now I've got to get around to getting IT back into shape. Overall it's a nicer starting point than the XK8 was, even though it has higher miles.

It needs a lot of clean up, some new suspension bushings - the rear is clunking over bumps, and it looks like another leaking cam cover, like my XK8 had, and a few other odds and ends.

I also still have the X-type, but it will be nicer to drive the XKR this summer.

Welcome back!

I have the same color...love it. It is very unusual and you will see blue hues under certain light conditions. Very cool.

I get more compliments on the color...and the fact that the coupe is so damned good looking...and unusual in these parts.

As long as you're doing the suspension bushings, you should install the lowering springs. To my eyes, they just sit a little too high. A while back someone posted a picture of a gorgeous silver one that had been lowered slightly, and the difference just blew me away. The coupes look so good sitting an inch lower.

Here's one that has been lowered:

Well shucks. The first pic wouldn't hotlink. Here's another. This one has a body kit on it, but still you can see that it's been lowered.

How did you get your driveway that pretty white color in the photo?

It was quite an elaborate setup, but it was worth it to make the car more closely resemble the one in the Die Another Day chase scene.

That's the one I almost bought. Was it on the Flint MI Craigs list?

Thanks guys. as to the numbers, it's got 119k , and was 11k. which I think was fair enough for the condition.

The seller said he was the second owner, and a close friend of the original owner. He swore it hadn't been driven in the winter at all. It looks pretty clean underneath, so hopefully I won't have any holes that aren't suppose to be there.

That's exactly the same info he told me when I was looking at it.
Same price too, but the milage was 116K a few months back.

He and his wife didn't drive it very much. It had 111k on it when they bought it. He didn't want to sell it, but she wanted a 4wd SUV to use year round, and they needed the garage space.
